Bowmen, Tigers, Wolves in middle of league volleyball race
The race for the top spots in the Three Rivers League volleyball standings looks to be a wild one.
And the Sherwood, Tigard and Tualatin squads are right in the middle of it.
The Lady Bowmen picked up a key win on Monday, as they scored a 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 win over Newberg in a league match played at Newberg High School. With the victory, Sherwood improved to 2-4 in TRL matches, putting them in a tie with Tualatin for sixth place in the league standings at that point.
Prior to the win over Newberg, Sherwood fell 25-10, 25-14, 25-18 to league-leading Lakeridge in a match played last Thursday at Sherwood High School.
Tigard, on Monday, was edged 25-16, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20 by Lakeridge in a match played at Tigard High School.
The the setback, the Tigers moved to 3-3 in TRL play at that point, putting them in a tie with Lake Oswego for fourth place in the league standings at that point.
Prior to the loss to the Pacers, Tigard bested St. Mary's Academy 28-26, 21-25, 27-25, 25-15 in a league match played last Thursday at Tigard High School.
Tualatin, which had a bye from league play on Monday, lost 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 to Canby in a league match played last Thursday at Canby High School. The loss moved the Timberwolves to 2-4 in league play.
In league matches on Wednesday, Tigard was scheduled to play at Tualatin and Sherwood was slated to host West Linn. Results of those matches weren't available when the Times went to press.
On Monday, Tualatin will play at Newberg in a 6:30 p.m. match. On Tuesday, Tigard will host Sherwood and Tualatin will be home to face St. Mary's in 6:30 p.m. matches.
