It's Thursday, April 26, Audubon Day. Happy birthday to comedian Carol Burnett (1933), whose wacky costume from her TV show's 'Gone With the Wind' spoof hangs in the Smithsonian's American History Museum. Today in 1921, salmon poachers on the Willamette River in Oregon City fought a small but loud gun battle with state game wardens trying to stop them. Shots were fired by poachers in boats and by wardens on shore, but no one was injured. Rocks were also tossed and rolled at the wardens. The battle resulted in at least 20 arrest warrants issued for the poachers. Expect more sunshine, with highs in the low 80s. (That's going to change by Friday). Honor our local wildlife today:
