Gervais city manager to retire
Gervais City Administrator Sam Sasaki is retiring at the beginning of next year, he announced at last weeks city council meeting.
Sasaki, 70, has held down the position since 2007. He gave his recommendation that Susie Zwemke, city recorder, replace him in the position, which council accepted. Zwemke has recently completed the Local Government Management Certificate Program, an 18-month League of Oregon Cities certification program for becoming an administrator.
It was an appropriate time for me to step down to allow new ideas and new thoughts to take over for the future of Gervais, Sasaki told the council.
