The Woodburn Masonic Lodge presented checks totaling $2,500 to Love, Santa, Inc. at a special dinner on Nov. 4.
The lodge raised $500 at a garage sale in July, and applied to the Walmart Foundation for an additional $2,000, which was approved.
Rhonda and I volunteered last year and saw directly the desperate need in our community, said lodge Worshipful Master Don Judson about himself and his wife. And when it was my privilege this year to serve as master of the Woodburn Lodge we adopted Love Santa, Inc. as our official charity.
Thanks to Love Santa, Inc., last year, 936 children ages 16 and under received at least one wrapped gift, and 368 families took home a turkey or ham, a gallon of milk, a dozen eggs, a loaf of bread, a box of food and toiletries.
We are extremely grateful to the Woodburn Masonic Lodge and Walmart for this donation, said Robert Prinslow, president of Love, Santa, Inc. This will allow us to serve even more families this year.
The dinner on Nov. 4 was to honor the official visit to the Woodburn Lodge of David H. Fryday, grand master of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Oregon. The Woodburn Masonic Lodge has been in Woodburn for more than 100 years and holds meetings on the first Monday of each month at 146 Arthur St. in downtown Woodburn.
