Kiwanians donate $500 worth of school supplies
The Woodburn?Kiwanis Club donated $500 worth of school supplies to fifth-grade classrooms at Heritage Elementary School on Dec. 17.
Supplies included spiral notebooks, folders, glue, erasers, scissors, calculators, paper, pens, pencils, markers, crayons, tissues and more.
I was able to get a copy of the required supplies from the beginning of the school year so I could use that to supplement what we got, said project organizer Lisa?Ellsworth.
Heritage Co-principal Sherilynn Rawson said this was a great time of year for the donation, as teachers have already gone through a significant amount of their materials they acquired at the beginning of the school year.
The supplies were handed to the teachers to distribute as needed.
Woodburn Kiwanis has donated to the Heritage fifth-graders for years, specifically composition books until a couple years ago.
Being able to deliver them directly to the classrooms also gives Kiwanis members to share what their organization is about and to see the joy in the childrens faces.
Its a huge benefit (to do that), Ellsworth said. The kids and teachers get to see it and they get excited.
