Wells Fargo made the holidays more merry and bright for 17 Oregon elementary schools, including Nellie Muir Elementary School in Woodburn, by giving each one a $1,000 grant at an event Dec. 12 in SUBMITTED - Nellie Muir Elementary Principal Todd Farris accepts a $1,000 grant check from Gabby Sanchez, manager of a Wells Fargo branch in Woodburn. The other recipients are in Albany, Aurora, Coos Bay, Corvallis, Cottage Grove, Eugene, Junction City, Lebanon, McMinnville, Philomath, Roseburg, Springfield, Sutherlin and Sweet Home.

All the schools receiving a grant are categorized as Title 1, meaning they have a high percentage of students from low income families.

Each principal will determine how to use the unrestricted funds to best benefit their students.

“At Wells Fargo, we believe that quality education is the most important investment we can make for our future generations,” said Thomas Thai, community banking district manager. “We believe our communities won’t succeed unless they have quality schools.”
