Community members gathered for a rededication of sorts at the Woodburn Boys & Girls Club location in Settlemier Park on Feb. 12.by: LINDSAY KEEFER - Community members gather in the newly remodeled space at Woodburn Boys & Girls Club.

Through the Boys & Girls Club of America grant initiative “Designing for Impact,” the club was able to receive a new paint and floor tile job, knock out a wall to expand space and purchase furniture. Additionally, local companies Cox Electric and Green Acres provided discounts for electrical and landscaping projects, respectively.

Although the makeover started in August, it wasn’t until February when the finishing touches were made and the community was invited to see the finished product.

“The club only works if the community supports what we’re doing,” said Eric Cardella, B&G Club director of operations. “This is truly part of the Woodburn community, which has stepped up and helped kids learn by doing with hands-on activities.”
