North Marion High School hosted 54 teams from 32 schools around the state in a two-day VEX Robotics NANCY BISHOP - VEX Robotics

North Marion had seven teams of 36 students compete, including the Volt Master team pictured right competing in Saturday’s competition.

The students work under the direction of adviser Joe Shepherd.

“All seven of our teams placed in the top 20, so we were excited about that,” Shepherd said.

One team placed second overall during the championship on Sunday.

“What’s exciting about that is this group is made up of all juniors,” Shepherd said. “So it will be interesting to see how they grow between now and next year.”
