Waste service company make 5-year-old's birthday special
Mason DeBruyn has always been fascinated with garbage trucks.
So when his fifth birthday was approaching, his aunt Kristen Feuz contacted Republic Services, the waste disposal company in Woodburn, to see if Mason could see the trucks up close and personal.
If someone wants to come see the trucks, we always try to make that happen, Tony Schlechter, operations supervisor, said. Its part of our job of keeping customers happy.
On June 23, Mason got a certificate with the Republic Services letterhead and toured the entire facility, including where the trucks are made and where containers are repaired. The day was capped off with a 15 minute ride around his grandparents neighborhood, where he got to collect their trash.
Mason said, This is just like Toy Story! Feuz said. Its been an obsession of his since he was 2.
She added she was impressed with the Republic Services staff.
They were fantastic,?she said. They were so professional and everybody was so happy to help. Even the operations manager came out and shook his hand. The whole team was great.
