Learn about Marylhurst graduate programs

Marylhurst University’s School of Graduate Studies and School of Business will host a fall information session Oct. 25 to provide prospective students with information about the university’s 11 graduate programs.

The School of Graduate Studies is home to master’s degree programs in art therapy counseling, teaching, education, interdisciplinary studies, applied theology and divinity, and a doctor of ministry program.

The fall information session also will introduce the school’s newest program, the Master of Arts in Food Systems and Society, which launches fall term 2013.

The School of Business offers a traditional MBA program, as well as an MBA in sustainable business and an MBA in real estate studies.

Faculty members from all graduate degree programs will be on hand to provide detailed information about admission requirements, curriculum and career options.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in Flavia Hall. Admission and parking are free.

For more information, contact Chris Sweet at 503-699-6268.

Lewis and Clark overseas program recognized

For the first time, U.S. News and World Report recognized Lewis and Clark’s overseas program as one of the best in the nation.

The college also moved to number 70 in the U.S. News rankings, up from number 71 in 2012. The 2013 U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges issue recognizes “schools with outstanding examples of programs that education experts, including staff members of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, agree are key.”

Lewis and Clark is the only school in the Pacific Northwest to make the study abroad list. The overseas study program, now in its 50th year, attracts students from — and sends students to — every corner of the globe.

More than 60 percent of Lewis and Clark students end up studying abroad, often in countries outside of Western Europe.
