Kindergarten registration open

Kindergarten registration for the 2013-2014 school year opened Jan. 7.

Parents may pick up registration forms from any of the primary schools or download the forms off the district website. Completed forms can be turned into the home school as early as that same day.

There is no registration day. Parents can return completed paperwork right away to their school office.

An all-day kindergarten class will be provided at every primary school next year. Admission to all-day classes will be confirmed to families who register by Feb. 1. After Feb. 1, admission will depend on space availability. This continues to be a tuition-based class; monthly payments are $390. A deposit of $125 is required at the time of registration and applied to the first month’s payment.

Scholarships are available; these application forms are included in the registration packet. Registration interest in the Spanish dual language programs at Trillium Creek is included on the same kindergarten registration form.

For more information or for a registration form visit or call 503-673-7100.

Submit a safety video

High school students across Oregon are invited to enter the annual video contest “Speak up. Work Safe.” Teens have used special effects, humorous storylines and creative characters to promote young worker safety and health in past videos.

Submission deadline is Feb. 1. The top three entries will take home cash prizes ranging from $300 to $500 and students will earn a matching amount for their school. Contest winners will be unveiled at a screening event to be announced in the spring and winning entries will be posted on YouTube.

The contest is designed to increase awareness about safety on the job for young people. Students must create a 90-second or less video with the overall theme of “Speak up. Work Safe.” Specific video guidelines are outlined in the contest rules. Participants are encouraged to use humor, creativity and share the message “Speak up. Work shouldn’t cost you your future.”
