Portrait scholarship offered to deserving member of class of 2014

Photographer Nancy Steele wants to honor the memory of a WL grad

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO: PICTURE THIS PHOTOGRAPHY - Drake Edwards, a 2011 graduate of West Linn High School, was killed in a car accident in December.A West Linn photographer has come up with a unique way to honor a West Linn man who died in a car crash in December.

Nancy Steele of Picture This Photography is offering a portrait scholarship to a member of the class of 2014 who embodies Drake Edwards’ zest for life and infectious energy.

A member of West Linn High School’s class of 2011, Edwards “was a friend to many,” Steele said. “He left a legacy for us to honor as a student, friend and mentor.”

Edwards was known for his larger-than-life personality as well as for his strong sense of community and his willingness to give. The portrait scholarship, Steele said, “is a way to honor Drake and to share Picture This Photography’s gifts with a deserving person, someone who goes beyond to help others.”

The scholarship is open to all members of the class of 2014 in West Linn, Wilsonville and surrounding communities. Applicants need not have known Edwards personally, although they “must embody his spirit of giving,” Steele said.

The Drake Edwards Memorial Portrait Scholarship will consist of a custom senior portrait session and gift prints valued at more than $750.

The application is available online at ptpnancy.com/blog/drake-edwards-portrait-scholarship. The application deadline is June 1, and the scholarship will be awarded by a panel that includes representatives from Picture This Photography, the community and the Edwards family.
