College Notes

Boston University

Zachary Mueller, a resident of West Linn, was named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attain a 3.5 grade point average or be in the top 30 percent of their class while carrying a full course load as a full-time student.

Eastern Oregon Univ.

Christopher McNeese of West Linn was named to the 2013 spring term dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. To qualify, students must earn and maintain a 3.5 or better grade point average while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the term.

Emory College

West Linn’s Amanda Rucker was named to the dean’s list of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the undergraduate liberal arts college of Atlanta’s Emory University. Students must be in the top 20 percent of Emory College or have a 3.85 grade point average or higher to be named to the dean’s list.

Oregon State University

Oregon State University has announced the names of students listed on the scholastic honor roll for spring term. George Fox University

McKinzie Elton of West Linn appeared on the dean’s list at George Fox University for the spring 2013 semester. To qualify, students must earn a 3.5 GPA for at least one term.

Gonzaga University

Five West Linn residents participated in graduation exercises at Spokane’s Gonzaga University on May 12. They were Christopher Chapman, cum laude with a bachelor of science in biochemistry; Madeline George, summa cum laude with a bachelor of business administration in business administration; Thomas Grant, bachelor of science in mechanical engineering; Matthew Oh, bachelor of arts in religious studies; and Christine Sandvold, bachelor of arts in public relations.

Seven students from West Linn earned places on Gonzaga University’s president’s list for spring semester 2013. Students on the list earned grade-point averages between 3.7 and 4.0. The students are Christopher Chapman, Madison Eden, Madeline George, Thomas Grant, Kelsey Guerins, Natasha Gulati and Thomas Veley.

Hamilton College

West Linn’s Helen Farrell has been named to the dean’s list at Hamilton College for the 2013 spring semester. To qualify, a student must have carried a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above for the semester. Hamilton College is located in Clinton, New York.

Linfield College

A total of 663 candidates for degrees were presented at the Linfield College commencement exercises on June 2. That number included three West Linn residents: Hana McKenzie DeLuca, bachelor of arts, elementary education; Caitlyn Rose Olson, bachelor of arts, elementary education and theatre (cum laude); McKenna Katherine Pyeatt, bachelor of arts, health education.

Stanford University

Johanna Hanson graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University on June 16. A graduate of West Linn High School, she is receiving her bachelors of arts with honors in religious studies. 

University of Portland

Nine West Linn residents were listed on the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at University of Portland. The students are Andrew Brown, Ellerey Nelson, Jessica Fung, Jonathan Fung, Mackenzie Laughlin, Melissa Aguilar, Ryan Schwarzer, Samantha Steele and Taylor Brooke. Students who qualify for the dean’s list have at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Washington State University

A West Linn resident, Megan Caruso, was named to the president’s honor roll at Washington State University. To be eligible for the honor roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled in a mininum of nine graded hours in a single term and earn a grade point average of 3.75 or earn a cumulative 3.5 GPA based on 15 cumulative hours of graded work.

Whitworth University

Melissa Goins of West Linn graduated from Whitworth University located in Spokane Washington. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with emphasis in youth ministry.
