A can collection competition


WLHS students collect cans to donate to families in need

Leadership classes at West Linn High School have been leading fellow students to bring in canned and nonperishable foods during the school's annual canned food drive.

Three Rivers schools include Canby, Clackamas, Lake Oswego, Lake Ridge, Oregon City in addition to West Linn.

All the food students collect will be delivered to the Elks Club for distribution to people in need throughout local communities.

"A lot of people don't know that a lot of these cans come back to people in our schools," Kevin Edwards said. A senior, Edwards was sorting and counting donations with classmates Nov. 15.

Donations are being accepted at the high school through this week. Nutritionally dense food items, such as soups, tuna and peanut butter, are especially appreciated.
