A windstorm caused havoc May 3 and was still affecting more than 1,000 West Linn residents May 4.

A large cottonwood tree fell on a house at 5750 River St. May 3 around 2 p.m. in West Linn. The tree crashed through an upstairs bathroom. No one was injured, but a waterline broke and caused water damage inside the home.

A large metal car shed blew across the 2000 block of 19th Street and several more fallen trees and branches were reported to the West Linn Police Department during the windstorm.

Five power outages were reported in the Hidden Springs neighborhood on the morning of May 4, starting around 6:45 a.m. Nearly 1,500 customers lost power. As of 12:23 p.m., 1,100 were still without power. Neither Rosemont Ridge Middle School nor West Linn City Hall were affected by the outages.

The loss of power was caused by equipment failures resulting from the Thursday afternoon storm, according to Steven Corson with Portland General Electric.

May 3's storm caused 66 outages across the Portland metro area, with close to 6,000 people losing power.
