Keep an eye on your cats

Coyotes suspected in rash of missing cats

It seems as though cats are disappearing along Imperial Drive in West Linn. Eight of the creatures were reported missing June 27 from the 4200 block of Imperial Drive.

by: SUBMITTED - Coyotes have a prime habitat in West Linn and are often seen in the area between the freeway and Imperial Drive.Another victim was reported on Rose Court, with evidence left behind.

Coyotes are not rare in West Linn; in fact, according to West Linn Police Sgt. Neil Hennelly, coyotes thrive in the long grasses along the freeway.

To prevent wildlife from entering your yard and harming small pets, Hennelly has a few words of advice. Keep cats indoors and don't leave pet food outside.

He said pet food left outside attracts not only hungry coyotes, but also other critters such as raccoons and opossums.
