Officers find gun, stun gun and marijuana

A 17-year-old male was arrested by West Linn police on Monday after a search turned up a handgun, a stun gun and packaged marijuana in his house.

Police started an investigation regarding the case in October, which lead to a Nov. 5 search warrant at an address in the 4300 block of Exeter Street in West Linn, which is near Sunset Elementary Primary School and Sunset Park.

During the search, police found four teens and a 22-year-old West Linn woman in the home. They seezed a small quantity of marijuana that was packaged for distribution, scales, packaging materials and other drug sale paraphernalia. They also found a stun gun and a semi automatic pistol.

The 17-year-old male was lodged at Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home in Portland on suspicion of distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The teen told police he traded drugs for the gun in Portland.

West Linn Detective Sgt. Kirk Tonkin said this arrest is a good reminder that these issues exist in West Linn, and that parents and citizens should remain vigilant in watching for suspicious behavior.
