Centennial Heritage Walk series is off to a good start

by: TONIA MCCONNELL - Despite the chilly weather, about 40 people participated in the first in a series of Centennial Heritage Walks.The first Centennial Heritage Walk was held Jan. 5 in West Linn as part of the city’s 100th birthday yearlong celebration.

A group of about 40 people participated in the walk, which started at the historic McLean House. The walk was led by Roger Shepherd, a member of the centennial planning committee. The group proceeded under the I-205 bridge, up to the West Linn Police Station, across the Oregon City-West Linn Arch Bridge, to the Oregon City municipal elevator overlooking the Willamette Falls. All along the way, Shepherd shared facts and stories of the history of the area.

The next Centennial Heritage Walk is set for Feb. 2, meeting at 9 a.m. at Willamette Primary School, 1403 12th St.
