Motorcycle driver seriously injured in the crash

by: OREGON STATE POLICE - The motorcycle in the aftermath of Wednesday morning's crash.West Linn resident Christopher Pearson, 49, was cited by Oregon State Police early Wednesday morning for careless driving after falling asleep at the wheel of his 1995 Jeep sport utility vehicle and hitting a motorcycle.

The accident, according to OSP, occurred at about 5:15 a.m. on Interstate 205 in the Clackamas area.

The driver of the motorcycle, Bruce Becker, 63, of Vancouver, Wash., was seriously injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University. He was wearing a helmet, according to police.

Pearson was not injured in the crash. According to police, upon falling asleep he first drifted right into a guardrail, then awoke and swerved left into Becker's 2004 Honda motorcycle.

The accident left I-205's northbound lanes blocked for more than an hour.
