Find many means of entertainment at the library

Driving down Highway 43 in West Linn, if you look close enough, there is a sign that points you to the West Linn Public Library. We all know what can be found in a library. Books!

Yes, we have books on just about any topic you can imagine. But did you know the library can be your one-stop entertainment destination for the whole family? Read on and learn what the library has for you!

1. by: SUBMITTED - You can find thousands of movies at the West Linn Public Library, including 'Cloud Atlas.'Feeling the need for a family movie night? The library has thousands of DVDs available for kids, teens and adults. From “Avatar” to “Zoolander,” we’ve got it. If you need something that another Clackamas County library has in stock, we can have it sent here for you free of charge.

2. Is it your lucky day? It might be if you come in the library and check out our Lucky Day shelf. This popular collection is strategically located at the front of the library for quick access. If you walk in and find “Cloud Atlas” or Dan Brown’s “Inferno” you get to check it out right away and skip the long holds list. It’s your lucky day! The collection includes the most popular books, movies and video games. by: SUBMITTED - If its your lucky day, you may find Dan Brown's latest book on the librarys Lucky Day shelf.

3. Wait, video games? Yes the library carries video games for kids and teens. Games come for a variety of platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation and Wii. Legend of Zelda, LEGO Batman, Mario and more. Also available are learning games for kids that can play on your home computer.

4. You can visit a garden or museum for free with one of our cultural passes. Thanks to the Friends of the Library the library offers free family passes to cultural venues. The Portland Children’s Museum, Portland Japanese Garden and our newest pass to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville are just some of the venues we have passes for. There is one pass for each venue, and they may be reserved in advance. You will need a library card in good standing to check out a pass. Call us or see our website for more details.

5. Drop off your old eye glasses, hearing aids and cellphones for recycling in our lobby. The Oregon Lions have provided a drop box for your used items. De-clutter at home, help the environment and help those in need in one step.
