West Linn man critically injured in accident
Accident happened on Highway 43 in Lake Oswego
James M. McQuay, a 71-year-old West Linn resident, remained in critical condition Wednesday morning after being injured in a two-car accident Monday night.
The accident happened at 8:47 p.m. According to the Lake Oswego Police Department, McQuay was driving on Highway 43 when his vehicle crossed the center line near Glenmorrie Drive and sideswiped another car.
McQuay suffered severe injuries in the crash and was taken to the intensive care unit at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital. He was still listed in critical condition as of Wednesday morning.
Police Sgt. Tom Hamann, spokesman for the LOPD, said alcohol use is suspected in the accident but the investigation is continuing, and no citations have been issued.
A passenger in McQuay's car, 69-year-old Verne McGough of British Columbia, also suffered injuries and was listed in fair condition.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, 21-year-old Tyler J. Anderson of Oregon City, was not injured.
The accident caused police to shut down sections of Highway 43 until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
