by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Cast members of the West Linn Old Time Radio Players, Wendi Harrel, Whitley Harrel and Dan Harrel, rehearse for the upcoming appearance at the West Linn fair. The show will be 5 p.m. Sunday at the main stage. As part of the West Linn Centennial Celebration a unique event will be happening at the West Linn Old Time Fair on Sunday.

Starting at 5 p.m., an old-time radio re-enactment will present the history of West Linn in two radio programs. The first is a soap opera program entitled “As the Willamette Flows.” The setting is the home of a young family in the Bolton area of West Linn. It involves the lives of the Hendersons, their three children and their neighbors as well.

The second program will be a game show with questions and answers about the history of West Linn. This program is called “So You Think You Know West Linn.” The contestants will answer questions about general history of the community and win a prize. The period setting for both programs is in West Linn in 1956 and originates from the fictitious studios of KWL West Linn Oregon — 550 AM on your radio dial. The actual location will be the main stage for the fair at Willamette Park in West Linn.

The questions for “So You Think You Know West Linn” will be based on information that can be confirmed by research at the West Linn Public Library. All participants will be given a “prize” for appearing. The “prizes” are gift certificates for items and services from local merchants that did business in 1956.

At the end of the broadcast there will be an opportunity for various groups to give reminders of events coming up later this year including events for the West Linn centennial celebration. A souvenir program will be provided to the audience with space to list any of these events that the audience may want to attend.
