Attend Computers for Kids Auction

The ninth annual Computers for Kids Auction is set for Aug. 2 at 2206 Tannler Drive (at the corner of Bland Circle and Tannler Drive).

During the last eight years volunteers have been able to get a total of 32 computer systems out to kids in West Linn-Wilsonville School District who otherwise would not be able to have one in their homes. This is the only fundraiser of the year for the cause.

This year’s auction will start with food being served at 5:30 p.m. and attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair, a good sense of humor and a checkbook. There will be pizza for dinner and beverages as well. Parking is available on Tannler Drive. Attendees are encouraged to park there rather than Bland Circle.

Lantern light tour gearing up for casting July 28, Aug. 1

The Willamette Living History Committee is preparing to begin casting for this year’s Willamette Living History: A Lantern Light Tour. The tour will be Sept. 21. The tours begin at 6 p.m. and run until the last tour finishes around 10:30 p.m. The mandatory dress rehearsal is Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. and runs until about 9 p.m.

The tour will be casting close to 80 combined tour guides and characters, so the committee welcomes new individuals interested in a part as a tour guide or character in the tour. RSVP to at least one of the following meetings where the committee will review the new script and assign parts. Indicate if you can make either meeting so the committee can divide the group up between the two meeting dates.

July 28 at 6 p.m.: RSVP by calling Beth at 503-680-6141 or Danny at 503-723-5494. Meeting is at 1852 Fourth Ave., West Linn.

Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m.: RSVP by calling Beth or Danny. The meeting is at 1852 Fourth Ave., West Linn.

Costuming fitting appointments will be arranged during casting meetings.

Crew volunteers are also needed for tour set up and safety patrol. Community service letters are available for crew.

WLACC seeks bus driver

The West Linn Adult Community Center is looking for a volunteer bus driver with a current commerical driver’s license to drive its 18-passenger bus that takes members on daytime trips several times a month.

At times it involves just a few hours, while other trips last most of the day. The community center has several drivers that it rotates through, so it is not a significant time commitment.

Anyone interested in this volunteer position should contact the West Linn Adult Community Center at 503-557-4704.
