Celebration on Sunday includes music, dedication ceremony
On August 11, a new garden wedding venue will be dedicated in West Linn.
Located on top of a hill at an historic property on Willamette Drive (Highway 43), Weddings on the Hill shares the 2-plus acre property with The Unity Center on this formerly private estate.
The celebration will include the gospel and soul sounds of The Group led by LaRhonda Steele and accompanied by jazz pianist Joe Millward at the Centers 10 a.m. service, followed by a dedication ceremony in the garden.
The newly landscaped garden, which includes a level grassy area for seating, flower-filled terraces, ornamental trees, a patio for serving or dancing and a large arbor for draping, is located next to the estates remodeled 1937 home. Within the home is a staging kitchen for receptions, wedding party dressing areas and bathrooms and a sanctuary with a piano and sound system and seating for more than 100 people which can be used as an alternate option.
Many couples desire the beauty and simplicity of a garden wedding, said Karen St. Clair, Unity Center administrator, "then realize they dont have all thats necessary including an indoors option and adequate parking.
Parking on the site can accommodate up to 70 cars.
Weddings on the Hill is offered to the public as a non-denominational venue. Couples may select their own wedding officiant to perform their service or the Centers Reverend Victoria Etchemendy, an ordained Unity minister, will assist in creating an individualized service including interfaith ceremonies, renewal of vows, commitment ceremonies or holy unions.
The grounds and facility are also available for private party rentals such as showers, personal special events or small group meetings where a tranquil setting is preferred. For more information on weddings and rentals, go to weddingsonthehill.com or contact The Unity Center at www.worldhealing.com.
