West Linn man's body found in Willamette River
The body of a West Linn man was found in the Willamette River Thursday morning near downtown Portland by the Ross Island Bridge.
The man was identified as Lawrence Anthony Hauser, 50, according to Multnomah County Medical Examiners Office.
Police identified him as the swimmer in distress who went missing on the evening of Sept. 14 in the Willamette River near the South Waterfront District.
Search and rescue crews from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and Portland Fire Bureau had searched the river in the area he went missing Saturday night and Sunday.
Multnomah County Sheriff's Office River Patrol deputies responded to the report of a body seen floating by a fisherman in the Willamette River near Zidell Marine. MCSO River Patrol and Portland Fire Bureau units arrived and the body was recovered from the river near Zidell Marine. MCSO River Patrol deputies transported Hauser to the Willamette River Patrol dock at 2200 NW Front Ave.
The Medical Examiner responded and MCSO detectives are handling the investigation.
There are no signs of foul play and the cause of death is still pending.
