Sign up for leadership academies

2014 academies will focus on arch bridge planning project

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 West Linn Leadership Academy and the 2014 West Linn Youth Leadership Academy.

The goals of the leadership academies are to learn about the city of West Linn and its operations and functions, empower West Linn citizens with leadership skills to lead in multiple ways and build relationships and become acquainted with those who share interest in the community.

During the 2014 Leadership Academy sessions, the cohorts will focus on the Oregon City-West Linn Arch Bridge master planning project as the overarching project of interest for discussions and activities. During each session, the leadership academy cohorts will learn more about the master planning process, including how the various components of city work affect long-range visioning.

Both the adult and student versions of the leadership academy will meet Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20 June 17. The adult version will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the West Linn Adult Community Center. The student version will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the adult community center.

Only online applications will be accepted. Adults should complete this version: westlinnoregon.gov/citycouncil/leadership-academy-application. Students should complete this version: westlinnoregon.gov/citycouncil/wlyla-application.

Applications must be received no later than Nov. 15 to be eligible for consideration for the 2014 academies. No more than 20 adults and 15 students will be accepted.

Leadership academies are free. The city asks for participants to commit to attending five of the six sessions, so the only investment is free time at these meetings. A light meal will be served at the adult and student leadership academies.
