Register for the Sandelie Mud Run

Registration is now open for the 2014 Sandelie Mud Run on Sandelie Golf Course. The event date is Jan. 11 and the race is limited to the first 250 entries.

There will be a 5K and 10K event available, and a portion of all proceeds will benefit Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

Attend fourth annual holiday craft fair

A holiday craft fair is set for Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at West Linn Lutheran Church, 20390 Willamette Drive (the corner of Jolie Pointe Road and Highway 43).

More than 35 artists will be on hand to sell a variety of items, from longboards to jewelry and handmade toys. The items are all locally made. Some of the proceeds from the pastry table will benefit the White Oak Savanna Natural Park and Wildlife Habitat.

Parking is available on site.

Take a family portrait to benefit food pantry

Picture This Photography is offering a complimentary portrait session for families Nov. 16 and Nov. 23 to benefit the West Linn Food Pantry.

The session includes 25 holiday cards and totals out to a $155 value. In lieu of payment, participants need only to sign up beforehand and bring 10 or more cans of food to the photo session.

The location of the photo sessions has yet to be announced. Each session will last 15 minutes.

Maddax Woods lighting is set

In its 10th year, Maddax Woods will be lit daily from 4 to 9 p.m. Nov. 16 through Dec. 31. Come and enjoy a magical walk down a lighted accessible path through the woods and to the viewing platform on the Willamette River.

A benefit sale at Maddax Woods is set for Nov. 16 from 3 to 8 p.m. There will be conifers with lights, nature-related gifts and live native plants for sale.

Holiday bazaar is Nov. 16

The West Linn Parks and Recreation Department’s annual holiday bazaar is Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Linn Adult Community Center, 1180 Rosemont Road.

There will be more than 25 vendors featuring handcrafted gifts, jewelry, children’s clothing, wookworks, paintings, sweets and more.

Volunteer at Maddax Woods

Maddax Woods needs help to fight back against English ivy and other non-native invasive plants. You can volunteer to help save the trees, native plants and animals in the nature parks.Every third Saturday of each month there are park restoration events. All individuals, families and groups are invited. Volunteers meet at 9 a.m. at the Maddax Woods parking area located at 5785 River St. in West Linn. The event hours are from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring sturdy shoes and gloves.

Volunteer group meets weekly at Mary S. Young Park

Volunteers meet every Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Mary S. Young State Park, 19900 Willamette Drive. Email or call John Linman or Dave Kruse about details or meet at the tool shed in the gravel parking lot. Bring your own work gloves. All necessary tools are provided.

Volunteer at the library

Many of the hundreds of items the West Linn Public Library checks in and shelves each day are handled by volunteers. The library is currently looking for people age 14 and older who can make a regular commitment to shelve library materials, keep shelves organized and participate in occasional special projects.

WLACC seeks volunteer bus driver

The West Linn Adult Community Center is looking for a volunteer bus driver with a current commerical driver’s license to drive its 18-passenger bus that takes members on daytime trips several times a month.

At times it involves just a few hours, while other trips last most of the day.

The community center has several drivers that it rotates through, so it is not a significant time commitment.
