Jail inmate commits suicide

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says Brandon Anthony Barker, 28, used a bed sheet to hang himself. Jail personnel reportedly attempted to revive him.

Barker was in the jail on charges of fourth-degree assault, strangulation, interference with a police report, and menacing.

Barker has been a Clackamas County Jail inmate 16 times, including his latest and final incarceration.

He was first lodged in custody in 2007 and police said his charge history has included thefts, criminal mischief, parole violations, assaults and domestic violence-related charges, including second-degree kidnapping, for which he received a 40-month sentence, as well as violation of restraining orders.
