Patsy Jean Metteer

Patsy Jean Metteer of West Linn died Jan. 1, 2013. She was 80.

Survivors include her children, Terry Kammerer, June Hess, Joseph Metteer, Laura Enge and Edward Metteer; sister, Betty Fontana; and two grandchildren. Her husband, Dale Metteer, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Hillside Chapel, 1306 Seventh St. in Oregon City.

John ‘Jack’ Robert Phelps

John “Jack” Robert Phelps died Dec. 30, 2012, of cancer. He was 78.

Mr. Phelps was born in Saginaw, Mich., to Robert and Genevieve Phelps. He grew up in Saginaw and Kenilworth, Ill., and graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., in 1952.

Mr. Phelps earned a degree in forestry from the University of Montana in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Patricia Gulbransen on Aug. 21, 1958. She preceded him in death in July 2011.

Mr. Phelps worked in international operations for Georgia Pacific and retired in 1996. In retirement he owned Landmark Woodworking in Atlanta. He was a member of the Marine Trader Owner Association and enjoyed boating and travel.

Mr. Phelps moved to West Linn in the 1960s, then moved to Lake Oswego from 1970 through the 80s. He lived in Atlanta following his retirement until three years ago, when he moved back to West Linn.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Gus and Victoria Phelps of Sharpsburg, Ga., Polly and Christopher Sierk of West Linn, and Marites Price of Eugene; six grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Lou Boyer of Albuquerque, N.M.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at 2182 Marylwood Court in West Linn.
