The West Linn swim teams fared well in their first league meet against Canby just prior to the winter break.

West Linn took on Canby and picked up plenty of victories. The girls team won every event, including sweeping all three relays. Laura Laderoute captured the 200 freestyle handily and would later bring home the 100 backstroke.

Robin Pinger was also a double winner, claiming the 200 individual medley and then the 100 breaststroke by more than 20 seconds.

Brie Balsbough won back-to-back events, winning the 50 freestyle by more than two seconds and then cruising to a win over teammate Sidney Pinger in the 100 butterfly.

Kylie Norris won the 100 freestyle convincingly while Sidney Pinger edged out Canby's top competitor in the 500 freestyle.

The boys were nearly as impressive. Kyle Vu picked up the Lions' first individual win of the night in the IM, followed by Ryan O'Leary and Ian Herr going 1-2 in the 50 freestyle.

Justus Highbarger then won the 100 butterfly by a second.

Curtis Klein cruised to a win by more than a minute in the 500 freestyle, an event he doesn't normally swim and he would later win the breaststroke as well.

O'Leary was also a double winner, taking the backstroke ahead of Vu in second.
