Boys tennis team topples another league foe

The Lions down Lake Oswego as midpoint of league nears

The West Linn boys tennis team continued its roll through league play this year, toppling another rival in Lake Oswego 6-2.

The Lions swept the four singles matches, winning each of them in straight sets to remain unbeaten in the TRL.

Lake Oswego was still playing without its top singles player and the Lions turned in another gritty performance to stay in the driver's seat atop the standings.

At Nos. 1 and 2 singles, West Linn had little trouble scoring victories as Russell Risenhoover and Logan Scott-Deeter combined to drop just three games total.

Things were a little trickier at third and fourth singles but both Andre To and Mark Paraschuck ground out tough opening sets, 7-5 and 7-6 respectively, and put their matches away.

In doubles, West Linn's No. 1 team of Mitch Tingey and Craig Wright scored an impressive 6-1, 7-5 victory, further establishing themselves as one of the pairings to beat this season.

At No. 3 doubles, Dakoda Archer and Conner Houlette won a tough match 6-3, 7-6.

West Linn is nearly at the midway point of the league schedule and already has victories against its three biggest rivals in Grant, Lakeridge and Lake Oswego.

Those teams figure to give the Lions their best shot in the upcoming rematches but West Linn will look to keep its momentum going.

West Linn is scheduled to play Oregon City in back-to-back matches later this week.
