With dominant play and an undefeated record in the Pacific Northwest Regional, the West Linn 14U Babe Ruth team punched its ticket to the World Series this past week, joining the West Linn 12U team as the second local squad to advance to the culminating tournament.
The Lions won all of their pool play games before advancing to the semifinals. A win there meant West Linn was just one win away from realizing their dreams Friday, July 28. Behind a dominant complete-game shutout from Kyle Sullivan, the Lions did just that. West Linn outscored its opponents by a combined score of 88-25, including a 6-0 victory over KWRL from Southern Washington in the championship game. The Lions also won 19-0 over Calgary in its opening game, with its closes contest coming in an 18-15 offensive showdown against KWRL in their semifinal matchup.
West Linn — which consists of players Clay Masters, Blake DeBisschop, Colin Driscoll, Mitch Duea, Gavin Haines, Zac Hoover, Christian Jones, Caden Parker, Adam Simshauser, Parker Stevenson, Sullivan, Ryan Talvas and Gavin Turner — will now travel to Glenn Allen, Va. for the World Series, where they'll take on some of the best players in the world.
