Kitzmiller returns in goal to lead retooling Wildcats

by: GREG ARTMAN - Senior goalkeeper Bess Kitzmiller will anchor the Wilsonville girls soccer team's defense this season. She was an all-league honoree last year. The Wilsonville girls soccer team has had plenty to celebrate in recent years, reaching the state finals in 2011 and winning a league title last year.

But since the Wildcats lost three first-team all-league honorees from their 2012 roster to graduation, it will be up to a new crop of athletes to build on the program’s successes.

Under fourth-year coach Becca Shook, Wilsonville will face three Class 6A teams in preseason play before kicking off Northwest Oregon Conference competition Oct. 3 at Liberty.

Leading the Wildcats is senior Bess Kitzmiller, an all-league goalkeeper last season.

Coach: Becca Shook (fourth year)

Last year: Lost to Corvallis in the Class 5A quarterfinals

Key players: Bess Kitzmiller, Ali Bourque, Kendall Tate
