Freshman scores points for Purple Aces in dual tournament

Brett Wolvert helped the Evansville men’s golf team defeat crosstown rival Southern Indiana in a dual tournament March 22-23 at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, Ind.

On the first day of the Purple Aces’ only home competition of the Brett Wolvertspring season, the Wilsonville alumnus joined teammate A.J. Naas to defeat USI golfers Alex Wade and Grant Huebner.

The Evansville freshman then earned his team a point by carding an 80 on the second day, topping Eagles freshman Tanner Mandel (82).

Next up for the Aces is a trip to Weaver Ridge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill. for the Bradley Invitational, which will be held April 5-6.

Wolvert graduated from Wilsonville High School in 2013. He earned medalist honors at the Northwest Oregon Conference tournament as a senior, when he averaged 73 strokes per round. He is the son of Terry and Stephanie Wolvert.
