Baseball: Wilsonville grad Gunner Pollman logs first hit of Sacramento State career
Freshman catcher smacks RBI single in Hornets' rout of Northern Colorado
It happened during a blowout, but it happened nonetheless.
Making his 10th appearance in a Sacramento State baseball game this season, Gunner Pollman notched the first hit of his collegiate baseball career March 22.
The Wilsonville alumnus brought home the final run of the Hornets 16-1 mercy-rule-invoking blowout of Northern Colorado in Western Athletic Conference play at John Smith Field in Sacramento.
The freshman catcher smacked his no-count RBI single to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Pollman, who is currently playing behind sophomore catcher Dane Fujinaka, had logged 13 plate appearances as of March 24.
