The girls team defeated the Lions 96-74, and the boys team won by a score of 98-68.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Wilsonville Wildcats swim teams defeated St. Helens on Dec. 14. The Wilsonville Wildcats got their swimming seasons off to a good start, besting league foe St. Helens. The boys team won with a score of 98-68, and the girls team secured their W 96-74.

Wilsonville's Sarah Carr took first place in 100-yard butterfly with a time of one minute one second (1:01.93) and 100-yard back-stroke with a time of 1:06.74.

Freshman Abby Moaz won the 200-yard individual medley with 2:19.37 and the 100-yard breaststroke at just 1:07.78. Moaz blew away the competition in her races.

Kayla Leon-Guerrero took first place in the first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 27.69 seconds. The girls team also won the 200 yard medley relay, the 200 yard freestyle relay, and the 400 yard freestyle relay with times of 2:02.18, 2:06.62, and 4:17.7 respectively.

The boys team also fared well in the meet. Wildcat Wesley Norris won the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 56.22 and the 100-yard backstroke at just 1:03.61. Vincent Nguyen won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:01.51, and took second place in the 200-yard individual medley. Cade Butterworth took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25 seconds even.

The boys team also won the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay with times of 1:44.10 and 4:33.19, respectively.

Wilsonville's next meet will be Jan. 5 against Putnam and Milwaukie.
