Ted Wheeler is a sixth-generation Oregonian

The Wilsonville Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler will speak at the Sept. 11 South Metro Leadership Forum.

Wheeler is a sixth-generation Oregonian, former chairman of the Multnomah County Commission and has been state treasurer since 2010. He oversees more than $70 billion in public assets including the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund, affecting more than 300,000 public employees including teachers and public safety workers.

“We try to give our members the best value, and having access to these types of quality speakers is just one of the benefits of chamber membership,” said Steve Gilmore, chamber CEO. “We are very excited to hear what Treasurer Wheeler has to say, as he is a rising star in Oregon politics.”

The 2013 season for the South Metro Leadership Forums has been exciting, according to the chamber, with local business leader Gale Lasko, one of the owners of Lamb’s Markets, sharing the story of the local neighborhood grocery store, an update about the Aurora State Airport and the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners all having presented so far this year.

“We continue to ask our members what types of topics they would like at the luncheon, and so far it is making for a great year,” Gilmore said.

To register for the forum, the cost is $20 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers. Contact Brandi Ebner at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 503-682-0411.
