In a phone interview with KOIN Local 6, the victim said, “I woke up because I felt someone touch my leg, like, just softly touch my leg.”
The 32-year-old woman said when she turned on her light around 1:15 a.m., she found the man in her bedroom.
“I crawled to the end of my bed and looked and this guy was crouched down in between my bed and my dresser. So when he knew I was right there he stood up, he was holding a large kitchen knife, from my kitchen I believe,” she said.
The victim said she backed up on her bed and the man said, “Don’t scream and I won’t slit your throat.”
The woman said she started screaming and flailing her arms to defend herself anyway, and somehow got cut with the intruder’s knife. She said she screamed so much the suspect ran off.
Detectives said they got a call of a burglary in progress in the 6400 block of Southeast 103rd Avenue around 1:15 a.m. While officers were en route they learned a woman had been stabbed by an intruder.
The victim said she got stitches for the cut to her thumb and will need further treatment.
Portland Police Bureau spokesman, Sgt. Pete Simpson, said a K-9 unit and officers searched the area around the apartment complex but did not find the suspect.
The investigation is continuing.
