Doc spotlight

“Mending the Line”

The film follows 90-year-old Frank Moore, a World War II veteran who took part in the D-Day invasion and an avid fly fisherman his entire life. While in Europe, he had fishing on his mind as carnage happened around him. He returns to Normandy, armed with a rod and reel. Director John Waller follows Moore’s emotional journey from the Umpqua River, where he has tended the famed Steamboat Inn, to the battlefields of his youth. It’ll be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 at Northwest Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 S.W. Park Ave. ($9, $8 students/seniors, $6 children). For info: http://www.nwfilm.org.
