BUSHNELL

Lauren B, aka Lauren Bushnell of West Linn, went on a one-on-one date with Ben Higgins on Monday’s seventh airing of “The Bachelor,” and the two hit it off again as the women and Ben visited his hometown of Warsaw, Ind.

Ben brought Lauren B to his home and she confided, “You make me so happy, Ben,” and professed her love for him to the cameras.

Lauren received a rose, as did JoJo, Amanda and Caila.

Tune in, 8 p.m. Monday (ABC) to see what happens.

‘Amazing Race’ update

So far, so good for Portland-area native Zach King and wife Rachel after the first episode of “Amazing Race,” which features duos who work in social media. (The Kings were featured in the Feb. 9 Tribune).

The couple, who now live in Los Angeles (Zach hails from Wilsonville), came in third after the first challenges in Mexico City aired last Friday. None of the 11 teams were eliminated after the nonelimination leg; the second show airs Friday, Feb. 19 (CBS). For more: http://www.cbs.com/amazing_race.

‘Blasted’

Defunkt Theater organizers have been trying to attract Sarah Kane’s human-nature epic to Portland for many years. Now it has arrived and will stage through March 19 at The Back Door Theater, 4321 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd. (http://www.defunkttheatre.com). It’s definitely meant for an adult audience, with very strong content.

Says The Guardian newspaper: “Twenty years ago, many said that Kane overplayed the scenario of violence … recent history has taught us that we were wrong to think that, or that distant wars had nothing to do with us and we are safe.”

There’ll be a post-show talkback with director Paul Angelo and the cast on Saturday, Feb. 20. Then, on Saturday, March 12, there’ll be “The Legacy of Trauma” post-show discussion with Portland mental health professionals about post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood trauma and intimate partner violence.

Kudos

Kudos are due for personalities Daria, Mitch and Ted of 105.1 The Buzz and folks at Fox 12 Oregon, who raised $742,000 from listeners on their Children’s Cancer Association Valentine-A-Thon, held Feb. 10 and 11.

“The Valentine-A-Thon for the CCA is the most rewarding event I have ever been a part of in my many years of broadcasting,” Mitch says.
