Oregon’s unemployment rate crept up to 4.8 percent in June as the state added 3,000 jobs last month.

May’s unemployment rate was 4.5 percent. A year ago, the unemployment rate was 5.8 percent.

Since June 2015, Oregon employment grew by 59,500 jobs. The state’s job growth has outpaced the nation since 2013.

In June, private educational services added 1,700 jobs and professional and business services added 1,400. Leisure and hospitality cut 1,000 jobs in June, while three other industries each cut at least 600 jobs: health care and social assistance (down 900 jobs), financial activities (down 700) and manufacturing (down 600).
