Woman injured when struck by car on NE Prescott Street

A 37-year-old woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when she was struck by a car at Northeast Eighth Avenue and Prescott Street.

Portland police said Heather Ann Ackles was taken to an area hospital with injuries they said could be life-threatening.

The driver, 73-year-old Herschel Faulkner, remained at the scene and cooperated in the investigation.

Police said the collision happened at 6:45 p.m., July 21. A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling west on Prescott Street and the woman was crossing southbound at Eighth Avenue.

The intersection was closed for hours during the investigation.
