Shea O’Connor scored in the 94th minute to give Oregon State the sudden victory over visiting Portland State after the teams played 90 scoreless minutes. O’Connor got to a cross from Ashleigh Fonsen for her first goal of the season.
Oregon State (3-1-2) outshot Portland State (2-4-0) by a 21-6 margin. Shots on goal were 7-1 and corner kicks 8-1.
PSU goalkeeper Abbie Faingold made six saves.
“We don’t think about the win or loss after a game like that,” PSU coach Katie Burton said. “That’s the best we’ve played all season as a unit. Their attitude, effort and work rate was tremendous. If we play like that in Big Sky play, we are going to go far.”
• Oregon junior Marissa Everett scored her third goal of the season in the Ducks home win over Idaho. Everett tapped in a cross from freshmen Chardonnay Curran in the 59th minute after Curran combied with Abby Morrow and dribbled past a defender. … Oregon (4-1) has won four in a row. The Ducks travel to face Cal Irvine on Sunday.
• At Merlo Field, Baylor (5-0-1) posted it’s fifth shutout in six games this season. The Bears have been scored on only once. The Bears’ goal came on a 37th-minute penalty kick.
Baylor outshot Portland 24-7 and also committed 24 fouls. Pilots goalkeeper Rachel Lusby made six saves.
• Concordia fell to 2-2 with the loss to Hawai’i Hilo, splitting two matches in Hawai’i. Gabrielle Ewing scored 38 seconds after halftime to pull to Caves within 2-1 but the Vulcans pulled away despite being outshot in the game 22-10.
• Linfield’s Sami Moellmer and Emma Smith scored two goals apiece at Warner Pacific (1-3).
