Northwest Dance Project

The Portland dance group begins its season with the hit “Carmen” and a wild world premiere from Artistic Director Sarah Slipper, “Room 4.” “Carmen” debuted a few years ago as maybe the most ambitious, elaborate and popular production in NW Dance Project’s 14-year history. In “Carmen,” the opera gets transported to a stylized world set in a reimagined women’s hair salon and a men’s barber shop. The full-company work is choreographed by Ihsan Rustem; costumes were designed by Michelle Lesniak. With “Room 4,” Slipper dives into the world of strained and stained interpersonal dynamics.
