The fall spike in COVID-19 cases that we’ve been anticipating as activities moved indoors has arrived. With 298 cases reported in our county today, we can each take steps to protect ourselves, our families and the community around us.
• Take a two-week break from gathering with anyone outside your household.
• If you absolutely must gather with people outside your household, limit your group size to 6. Reduce the frequency of these gatherings as much as possible. And meeting outdoors is lower risk than gathering indoors.
• Work from home, if at all possible.
• Always wear a face covering, keep 6 feet of distance, and wash your hands and shared surfaces often.
• Check your symptoms at c19oregon.com
• If you are around someone who was infectious, or have tested positive for the virus yourself, follow this step-by-step guidance on what to do next.
Taking these actions can help us protect one another, preserve critical hospital capacity and avoid more severe restrictions. We slowed the spread before, and together, we can do it again.
The latest deaths were: a 76-year-old man in Marion County who tested positive Oct. 21 and died Nov. 9 at his residence; a 92-year-old woman in Marion County who tested positive Oct. 8 and died Oct. 15 at her residence; a 100-year-old woman in Multnomah County who tested positive Oct. 3 and died Nov. 1 at her residence; an 81-year-old man in Multnomah County who died Nov. 4 at his residence; and an 84-year-old man in Multnomah County who tested positive Nov. 7 and died Nov. 8 at his residence.
It was yet to be determined if the 84-year-old Multnomah County man had underlying conditions, but the other four patients did according to OHA.
