Seahawks roll in final home game, beat Detroit Lions 51-29

At the end of a disappointing season, the Seahawks gave fans at Lumen Field a fun final show on Sunday, Jan. 2, trouncing the Detroit Lions 51-29.

Rashaad Penny ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns and Russell Wilson threw for 236 yards and four scores — three of them to DK Metcalf — as Seattle built a 31-7 halftime lead while improving to 6-10 with one game remaining.
For only the second time in 10 seasons, the Seahawks won’t be in the playoffs. Their season will end Sunday, Jan. 9, at Arizona, a game slated to kick off at 1:25 p.m.
Against Detroit, Seattle produced 497 yards of offense, 265 on the ground. The Seahawks defense intercepted Lions quarterback Tim Boyle three times, two by D.J. Reed and one by former Oregon Duck Ugo Amadi.

“This is what we’re supposed to look like,” Seattle coach Carroll said. “This is the way we’re supposed to play. We’re supposed to get the football off the opponent. And we’re supposed to run the football and own the line of scrimmage so we can do all the things that our offense is structured to do, and play off our special teams.”
