If approved, the day would become a work day for school staff, with no classes held for students.
The school district’s teachers union advocated for the school climate work day during recent negotiations.
“It would allow schools to continue working on their campus-specific school climate plans and instructional practices to support the needs of students,” PPS noted in a message to families about the upcoming vote and potential schedule change.

Friday, Jan. 28, is already scheduled as an end-of-semester grading and planning day. If the Jan. 31 teacher planning day is added, students would return to school in-person on Tuesday, February 1.
The PPS board will hold a special meeting to vote on the resolution on Tuesday, January 18, at 4:45pm, before the start of its scheduled board retreat.
