Here are the All-PIL boys and girls soccer teams for standout 2023 season

After an unforgettable postseason for soccer in the Portland Interscholastic League, the conference has also announced the all-league squads for 2023.

Starting on the girls side, third-place finishers Lincoln High School nabbed two of the three top honors with sophomore Frances Reuland named the Offensive Player of the Year and senior Kennedy Fletcher named the Defensive Player of the Year.
McDaniel’s JD Penilton was named the Coach of the Year with the Mountain Lions finishing 3-7-4 overall and 1-4-1 in league play.
Joining Reuland and Fletcher on the first-team from Lincoln is senior forward Alana Harry.

Grant, the 2023 6A state champions, finished with the most players on the first team with four. Those four are: senior midfielder Maggie McGair, junior midfielder Paige Nakada, senior forward Abbie Day and sophomore goalkeeper Lucy Kapranos.
The Southeast was represented with four players from Cleveland, the 2023 6A state runnerups, and Franklin. Those four are: Franklin senior midfielder Ella Callanan, Franklin junior midfielder Katherine Shaver, Cleveland senior midfielder Elsie Koehler and Cleveland junior forward Lola Pierce.
Rounding out the first team is two selections from Roosevelt, who made the postseason for the first time in program history this season. The two players selected were junior centerback Ellie Heslam and senior midfielder Hazel Levin.

Wells senior Ada Strecker, Wells senior Dana Savage, Grant senior Erin McDevitt, Grant junior Kate Ratanaproeska, Grant sophomore Nailani Solomon, Franklin senior Tallulah Hutchinson, Franklin senior Haviva Kalenkowitz, Cleveland freshman Eleanor Cohen, Cleveland senior Jaidyn Richter and Roosevelt junior Leslie Homan.

PIL Boys
Flipping over to the boys side, Lincoln senior Gunder Miller repeated as the PIL Offensive Player of the Year while Wells senior Cole Aman was named the Defensive Player of the Year.
Cardinals head coach Brandon McNeil was named the Coach of the Year after the Cardinals won the PIL crown this season.
Franklin ended up with the most players on the first team however with three. Those include junior forward Nevin Rueegger, junior left back Zayan Sweilem-Zook and senior goalkeeper Jonathan Hernandez.
Lincoln, Grant, McDaniel and Wells are all next with two players each. The two Cardinals are Miller and senior forward rRafe Westlund. The two Generals are senior forward Cameron Lorie and senior center back Travis Weksler.
Leading the Guardians are Aman and senior forward Jaden Igarta, and the representatives for the Mountain Lions are senior Bryan Carmona Zepeda and senior center back Finn Rohl.
Filling out the rest of the first team is Cleveland senior forward Solomon Barnett and Roosevelt junior forward Owen Nathan.
Moving to the second team, McDaniel landed another four players to lead the squad. Its four reps are freshman left back Judah Ostrand, sophomore center back Blake Rhodes, junior right mid Tavener Russ and senior Mingo Blackbird.
Cleveland put three players on the second team in senior midfielder Milo Wray, junior right back Noah Johnson and sophomore goalkeeper Derek Puppo.
Franklin has two players on the second team in senior midfielder Luis Garcia and sophomore center mid Jack Truong. Lincoln also has two in junior center back Ollie MacLaren and junior midfielder Pablo Guevara.
Wells and Grant have one apiece on the second team in sophomore defender Eamon Pierce (Wells) and senior right back Miles Ognall (Grant).
