Ouida Marie Packard

October 1, 1938 – November 26, 2024 – Ouida Marie Packard was born in Monticello, Arkansas. She was named after her mother’s best friend. She was 86 years old at the time of her death.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Westfir High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, George Packard, in a garden ceremony on September 21, 1957. Ouida and George raised their family in Corvallis, Oregon and spent many happy years there before moving to Tualatin, Oregon.
In the early years in Corvallis she attended Phagans Beauty School. She worked as a hair stylist in Corvallis for several years. During the years that her daughters were in school, she worked for the Corvallis School District. Later she was a teacher and director at Grant Avenue Preschool for 18 years. She cherished the families she met during those years.
She was a former member of Grant Avenue Baptist Church in Corvallis and a current member of Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin. Ouida’s faith was an important part of her daily life.
Ouida was a volunteer at Tualatin Library, Tualatin Community Warehouse and Rolling Hills Church nursery. Ouida also taught English as a Second Language for many years.
She had many hobbies including furniture restoration, sewing, crafts, gardening, and traveling. Ouida and George especially enjoyed spending winters in Desert Hot Springs, California and summertime at the Oregon Coast. They had many wonderful trips in their motorhome with their beloved dog, Missy.
Ouida loved her family and spending time with them and lifelong friends brought her joy.
Ouida was preceded in death by her mother Mildred Lemke; sister Pat Frith and brother Dewane Colter. She is survived by her husband George Packard; her daughters Melissa Packard (Dave) Koons and Lori Packard (Mike) Cronk; grandchildren Anthony (Whitney) Smith, Ashley Smith, Rachel (Justin) Thomas, Megan (Erick) Kruse, Courtney (Dejuan) Tanner; great grandchildren Sophia Kruse, Charleston Thomas, Eli Kruse, Kaden Thomas, Zariah Tanner, Easton Kruse and Kennan Smith. Also, her sister Yvonne Cohen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery.
