Monet, Van Gogh
The “Beyond Monet and Van Gogh: The Immersive Experiences,” in which people walk around (and within) large-scale projections of Monet and Van Gogh works, will be in Portland longer than expected. The show has been extended through Feb. 2, 2025 at Oregon Convention Center. The addition of days comes with new hours of operation as of Jan. 6 (11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays).

Skating rinks
Reminder: The Portland Winter Ice Rink has returned to downtown Portland this holiday season. The ice rink is located adjacent to Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the Morrison Bridgehead, 499 S.W. Naito Pkwy. The rink will operate through Sunday, Jan. 5 with 90-minute skate sessions from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. In addition to the ice rink, the Winter Village has returned and showcases Portland in art, music, food, and light through experiences curated by Vida En Color (wintericerinkpdx.com).

Also, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, 1945 S.E. Water Ave., is offering skating on a synthetic surface inside its auditorium, through Jan. 1, 2025. It’s a 20×40-foot rink. Hours are 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays. The rink is closed on several days (omsi.edu/exhibits/ice-rink).
Portland Saturday Market
Reminder: As you try to think of Christmas present ideas, consider visiting Portland Saturday Market, the largest continuous open-air arts and crafts market in the United States. It’s celebrating 50 years and its designation as an Oregon Heritage Tradition. Portland Saturday Market, 2 S.W. Naito Parkway, is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sundays through December.

‘Live Wire Radio’
The new show of “Live Wire Radio” with Luke Burbank and Elena Passarello is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at Revolution Hall. It features actor/icon Bruce Campbell, poet/performer Danez Smith, comedian/writer Sara Schafter, standup comedian Hari Kondabolu and musical guest Blitzen Trapper.

Iconic comedian Paula Poundstone, known for her smart, observational humor and spontaneous wit, continues to tour and will do standup at Aladdin Theater, 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. She hosts a weekly podcast, “Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone,” and is also a regular panelist on NPR’s “Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me” (aladdin-theater.com).
‘ZooZoo’
Reminder: Imago Theatre returns with its popular show “ZooZoo,” through Jan. 1 at Imago Theatre, 17 S.E. Eighth Ave. The established stage show introduces a new character in 2024 — the Baby Birds. The show has been toured all over the country, including shows in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. It’s a magical revue featuring persnickety penguins, hippos, polar bears, an acrobatic grub and more.
